Hello, there! My name is Dawn Bhat. I provide psychotherapy and counseling services in the historic downtown Camas, close to Portland and the Columbia River Gorge. I am licensed as a mental health counselor (LMHC) in Washington and New York. In addition, I am licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Oregon. I invite you to read through my website to learn more about me and my experience so you can gain a sense of the kind of work I do in my private practice.
I hold a masters of science degree in clinical mental health counseling from Long Island University and a masters of art degree in general psychology from Queens College in the City University of New York. In addition, I am a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor by the National Board for Certified Counselors. I also studied somatic psychology at the doctoral level for one year. While living on the East Coast, I became fully trained in Somatic Experiencing®, a naturalistic approach to trauma resolution.
As a native New Yorker, I was born on Long Island close to the Atlantic Ocean/Fire Island and not far from NYC. I am newer to the Pacific Northwest and the Portland metropolitan area. There is a wonderful diversity here of landscapes, rivers, waterfalls, and there is something about the presence of Mt Hood, which on a clear day you can see on the way to my office.
I am a Clinical and Somatic Practitioner member of the United States Association for Body Psychotherapy (USABP). For five years I was a regular contributor and columnist for Somatic Psychotherapy Today, a magazine publication of the USABP.
